Colin-

I have to say afer reading your blog I consider myself truly blessed. Years ago when Sam and I bought our fourth burm while setting up her enclosure, getting her settled, and staring at her in complete awe Sam made the comment "when we stop enjoying this then I'll know its time to stop and cut back". Fast forward a few years to the present when I just got done cleaning some cages and sit down to read this blog and realize that although it is a business and we are breeders, my burms are an important part of my life and I can't imagine what it would be like without them. I am fortunate that I enjoy cleaning cages, OCD makes cage cleaning fun!!! Caring for my burms is relaxing and even though Sam laughs I spend hours talking to them (I have found they make great listeners). Every burm we have right now has a name, every burm has a picture in a photo album, and every baby we produce tugs at my heart strings when its sold and I have to ship it off-some more than others but I realize we can't keep them all. Our snakes are one thing Sam and I do together-we are different as day and night but our burms are common ground, "date night" never existed for us but teasing each other, talking, catching up, discussing the kids, making plans, and just spending time together happens during our daily rounds with the snakes and I wouldn't have it any other way. I just went back to let the burms know that I was talking about them and while I would love to think all 31 snapped to attention and listened I know my presence was sorely ignored for the most part (except by those who have been advocating for being fed daily instead of weekly and have resorted to begging) the rest kept doing what they do best-being lazy. Thank you for the incredible post Colin.

Colin, Remember what i said? I'm in it for the hobbie. If only you knew how much extensive care we give our snakes. Then also my little chihuahua is more important to me than anything but, he has a ancectors dating back to the aztecs. They think like he's my friend only because they've been domesticated for over 5,000 years. Yet getting back to the subject I care for and have a attachment to all my collection of reptiles. I know i'm fairly new but, I don't think i'd ever treat my reptiles any diffrent after time and thanks to your great breeding skills. I have a awesome collection of great healthy ball pythons. So what I'm trying to say is you being a breeder brings joy to thousands of people who enjoy your work as their pets.

Hey Colin, I bet you are better at writing than John Steinbeck!!! If you want a cool pet, you can get a chameleon, some sort of tutle or tortoise, a green tree python, a monitor, Dumerils Boa, Knobtail Geckos etc.

Wow I could not have said it better myself. All true and unfortunately we name every Burm and become attached to everyone and every time one goes it aches, but nothing like the very first girl when she passed. I cried for hours. Yes scary tattooed guy cried for hours over a snake. Daisy was with us for just under 11 years and 18+ feet long, she was as sweet as she was big and I truly miss her. Since her no others have hurt as bad, but they do still hurt.

Colin if you decide on a pet that takes up a huge area and is nothing short of a paperweight that has to eat and poop let me know, I am pretty sure the price would be one you will never beat. $0.00 plus $0.00 for shipping. Your blogs are awesome.
